Skim Amanah Rakyat 1Malaysia (SARA 1Malaysia)
is a special Scheme initiated by the Government of Malaysia aimed at promoting the participation of the low-income group to save and invest; apart from to assist them in managing the impact of the rising current cost of living.

The Scheme will be implemented in collaboration with Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and selected financial institutions.

To increase the disposable income and encourage savings among the low-income group, the Government will introduce Skim Amanah Rakyat 1Malaysia or SARA 1Malaysia. The scheme is available to households with income below 3,000 ringgit per month and will benefit 100,000 households. The scheme will be implemented by Permodalan Nasional Berhad in collaboration with selected financial institutions, effective January 2012.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE SCHEME

A total of RM500 million funding is offered to 100,000 households. Allocation is based on first-come-first-served basis. Application is opened for a duration of one year from the date the application is opened to the public or upon full subscription, whichever is earlier.

The distribution of funds is opened to all Malaysians based on the allocation of Amanah Saham 1Malaysia (AS 1Malaysia)^I, i.e. Bumiputera – 50%; Chinese – 30%; Indian – 15%; Others – 5%.

Through this Scheme, monthly incentives shall be paid to the participants in the form of additional AS 1Malaysia units.

Participants need to pay only minimum monthly payments for 5 years.

ELIGIBILITY

1.	Malaysians aged between 18 and 58 years;
2.	Applicants must have a combined gross household monthly income of between RM500 – RM3,000;
3.	Applicants must not be declared bankrupt throughout the loan funding period;
4.	Applicants and / or spouse(s) must not be a beneficiary of other Government special schemes managed by Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) i.e."Program Pembangunan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT)", "ASB Sejahtera" and "ASW2020-Bandar";
5.	Applicants and / or spouse (s) do not have any investments in ASNB unit trusts, OR, if there is, applicants and /or spouse(s) (household) have a combined aggregate investment totaling RM10,000 or less in all ASNB products;
6.	Only one household is eligible to obtain the loan funding; and
7.	Approval on applications is also subject to other terms set by the financial institutions.

APPLICATION

Interested applicants must obtain forms from participating banks starting from 30 January 2012.** Completed forms together with the required documents are to be submitted to the banks for verification and consideration. Successful applicants will be informed by the banks.

Applicants are required to provide original and certified true copies of the following:

1.	Identity card of applicant – 2 copies
2.	Identity card of spouses(s) (if applicable) – 1 copy
3.	Income verification document To attach the latest three months' pay slip or Bank Statements of applicants and/or spouse. Failing which the income declaration stated in BPPSARA1M Part C will be applicable***.
